Rules

Transportation and disposal must be done by licensed/permitted businesses.

State Contract

The State of Missouri has an ongoing contract for disposal of hazardous waste

Procedures

  • Normally, pick-up of hazardous waste will be scheduled twice per year, in January and July.
  • Physical Plant and the School of Science and Mathematics will monitor the total quantity of hazardous waste in storage.
  • Sam Guth (660-785-4203, sguth@truman.edu) will record the total in campus storage on a monthly basis.
  • If the total on-campus quantity of hazardous waste is expected to approach 2,200 pounds before the normally scheduled pick-ups, an extra pick-up will be arranged.
  • Sam Guth (660-785-4203, sguth@truman.edu) of Physical Plant will make arrangements with the State Contractor for pick-up of hazardous waste.
  • Sam Guth (660-785-4203, sguth@truman.edu) will coordinate with Elaine Scudder for pick-up of Science Lab hazardous waste.

Records

The contractor must prepare and provide manifests for all materials transported off-campus. Contractor will file our disposal reports, and provide information and assist us in filing our annual report. Also, contractor will file all quarterly reports with Truman State University and the State of Missouri.
